TikTok Shop Creator Discovery

Creator-Powered User Acquisition

TikTok Shop discovery is finding people who can tag a SKU. App-install discovery is finding people who can send a person to a store listing. They share a For You page. They do not share a conversion object. Pick one destination per avatar. A blended “beauty plus app” session produces names you cannot brief.

If checkout is Shop, you need creators who already tag products, plus affiliate infrastructure, samples, and a commission the platform can see. That is Aspire-class or Grin-class work. JumpTrend will not issue a Shop affiliate link and will not report GMV.

If destination is an app, scroll as the customer, brief a thumb on glass, and say there is no product tag. JumpTrend is app-install flavored. The honest overlap is the session: who the customer is already being shown. The definitional fork is TikTok Shop vs app install campaigns.

What Shop discovery actually optimizes for

Shop-native tools want:

  • creators who already tag products
  • affiliate infrastructure (codes, storefronts, GMV)
  • gifting and samples that photograph
  • a warehouse or a 3PL
  • a commission the platform can see

That is a real job. Aspire-class and Grin-class products grew up here. If your bottleneck is “we cannot seed 400 SKUs and track GMV,” you need that operating system, not an avatar scroll that stops at a list of handles.

What app-install discovery optimizes for

  • a listing that can close
  • a creator the ICP already watches
  • a screen recording that does not look like an unboxing
  • codes that are a weak signal, not the checkout
  • Spark later, if rights exist

There is nothing to unbox. The hero shot is a thumb on glass. Creators trained on Shop will ask where the product link is. If you do not brief that difference, you will get a storefront CTA for an IAP.

Where the avatar still helps a Shop team

Even if checkout is Shop, the feed is still a session. “Who exists in the beauty database” is not “who this customer is being served this week.” A feed-as-avatar pass can still produce a shortlist of repeaters. You would then run those handles through your Shop stack for affiliation and payouts.

That is a sequence, not a replacement. JumpTrend will not pay the creator, will not issue a Shop affiliate link, and will not report GMV.

If the brand is a live app and a Shop merch drop, pick one destination per avatar. A blended session produces a blended list you cannot brief. Doing it as a blended “beauty plus app” phone is how you get names you cannot brief.

Artifact: destination constraint (put this in the brief)

Destination constraint:
- This campaign's conversion is: Shop checkout / App install / not both
- If Shop: we have a SKU, a sample plan, an affiliate object
- If App: we have a listing, a unique code or link, no product tag
- Creators who only speak Shop language: [include / exclude]
- Creators who only speak app/workflow language: [include / exclude]
- JumpTrend output if used: in-feed handles from a TikTok/IG avatar scroll
- JumpTrend does not: run TikTok Shop ads, pay affiliates, gift SKUs, report GMV

If you cannot fill “conversion is,” you are not ready to discover anyone. You are ready to argue in a Slack thread.

How to brief a Shop-native creator about an app (or the reverse)

Shop to app: say there is no product tag. Show the 20-second mechanic. Say how they get paid (flat or hybrid, not “15% of something Apple will not show you”).

App to Shop: say what ships, what they can keep, what the affiliate object is, what they must not claim.

Do not paste an App Store subtitle into a Shop campaign manager. Do not paste a SKU list into TestFlight notes.

Pricing honesty if you still want JumpTrend

Scout is $1,500. Outreach is $2,500. Dealmaker is $5,000 per month. One avatar per plan. Talent extra. Cancel anytime. No demo. No download guarantee, and no Shop-GMV guarantee either. Use Scout when the missing piece is “who is in this customer’s feed.” Keep your Shop CRM for the catalog.

If you need TikTok’s own Shop seller tools and ads, use those. This cluster will not pretend JumpTrend is that console.

Who should skip this page’s product mention

  • You only sell physical goods and already have a working marketplace roster
  • You need payouts, 1099s, and a content library this quarter
  • You want a demo of a giant creator index

Who should stay: a DTC team whose customer is still a For You session, and who is tired of checkbox niches; or an app team that keeps hiring Shop-shaped creators by accident.

Mobile game and DTC as later rooms

JumpTrend’s expanding buyers include DTC/TikTok Shop after boutique agencies, then mobile game UA. This page is the DTC room. Game UA that wants a CPI network and a playable is not Shop discovery either. Do not copy a Shop affiliate rate card onto a hybrid-casual install campaign. The session can still be the research method. The conversion object cannot be borrowed.

If you are Shop-only and happy in Aspire or Grin, stay. Use a feed-as-avatar pass only when checkbox niches keep returning the same faces your customer does not watch. One destination per session.
