3D printer companion apps vs a hashtag list
A hashtag list for 3D printer companion apps is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would download this on a fresh account.
People tag #3dprinting when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.
The person: US English, 22-40, already bounced off a printer app that was a second slicer and a Discord of fail photos, watches ‘I left a spaghetti for six hours’ and garage-printer videos from a phone at work. They watch spaghetti-for-six-hours, remote-watch, ‘the app is another slicer’, Discord-fail-photos. Example: someone coming home to a spaghetti they could have stopped at lunch. The same spaghetti-at-lunch face two workdays.
How I actually use a tag, then ignore it
Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the 400k print-influencer whose grid is a $3k machine unboxing, because that is who buys the tag.
Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
Like a $3k unboxing and you will leave the spaghetti-at-lunch people. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.
When a hashtag is enough
If you are learning that spaghetti, remote watch from work, not $3k machine flex is next to spaghetti-for-six-hours, remote-watch, ‘the app is another slicer’, Discord-fail-photos, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.
The tag is $3k machine unboxers.
