Ankle weights vs a hashtag list

Creator-powered user acquisition

A hashtag list for ankle weights is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would buy this SKU on a fresh account.

People tag #ankleweights when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.

The person: US English, 22-36, already bounced off a pair that dug in on a walk and a TikTok Shop mystery weight, watches ‘these dug into my ankle’ and walking-pad videos in a living room, no body claims. They watch dug-in-ankle, walking-pad, mystery-weight, ‘they slid down the hallway’. Example: someone showing a red line after a 20-minute walk. The same red-line face two walks.

How I actually use a tag, then ignore it

Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the 2M walking-pad creator whose whole grid is before-after bodies, because that is who buys the tag.

Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.

Like a before-after and you will get talent you cannot run claims with. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.

When a hashtag is enough

If you are learning that walking-pad, dug-in, not weight-loss claims is next to dug-in-ankle, walking-pad, mystery-weight, ‘they slid down the hallway’, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.

The tag is walking-pad body accounts.
