Baby gear brands vs a hashtag list

Creator-powered user acquisition

A hashtag list for baby gear brands is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as your client’s customer on a fresh account.

People tag #momtok when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.

The person: the client’s customer is a US English parent, 28-40, already bounced off a registry they regret and a Facebook-group recommendation that broke, watches ‘I bought the wrong stroller’ and 3am-gear-rage videos after bedtime, never kid-directed content. They watch wrong-stroller, 3am-gear-rage, registry-regret, Facebook-group-lies. Example: a parent in a parking lot fighting a stroller fold with no child featured as talent. The same after-bedtime gear-rage face two nights.

How I actually use a tag, then ignore it

Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the family vlog that puts a baby on camera for a brand deal, because that is who buys the tag.

Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.

If you linger on kid content you will get accounts you cannot buy. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.

When a hashtag is enough

If you are learning that registry regret, 3am rage, not kidfluencer and not ads to children is next to wrong-stroller, 3am-gear-rage, registry-regret, Facebook-group-lies, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.

The tag is family vlogs you cannot use if a child is the talent.
