How to write a BookTok reading tracker creator brief
A BookTok reading tracker creator brief is not a media-plan age band. It is a session: a person, a problem, a pattern of watch-time. I write it before I open a fresh account.
The sentence I actually scroll as: US English, 18-30, already bounced off Goodreads they feel watched on and a Notes app of titles, watches ‘Goodreads made reading a job’ and TBR-shame videos in bed with a paperback.
Problem in their mouth: I wanted to DNF in peace and Goodreads made it a performance.
Already tried: Goodreads they feel watched on, a Notes TBR, and a spreadsheet of titles they stopped opening.
Watch: Goodreads-anxiety, TBR-shame, ‘I DNF and I will not log it there’, bed-paperback.
Reject: the 500k BookToker whose whole grid is publisher PR.
Adjacent: DNF shame, bed paperbacks, not publisher-haul.

What to put on the page you send a creator
That later page is not the avatar brief. The avatar brief is for the phone. The creator page is: one mechanic, one CTA, one forbid list.
Mechanic: a TBR that is not Goodreads social anxiety, or a reading log that is not a review site. A live listing whose first screenshot is a private TBR, not a social feed.
CTA: Add tonight’s paperback, mark a DNF, show it is private, drop the code.
Forbid: Do not ask for a 20-book haul. Ask them to DNF a book in the app in peace. No medical claims. No fake “not sponsored” energy when you paid them.
A working log they can add tonight’s paperback to. If they never open the product, the video will be a read-through of your website.
What to ignore
Follower counts, “micro vs macro,” competitor creator lists, and anything that starts with #booktok. Those belong in the outreach spreadsheet, after you have names from a feed.
Also ignore “make it go viral.” An avatar brief cannot promise that. It can only promise match.
Example video to have in your head while you write: someone closing Goodreads because a 1-star felt like a performance.
Goodreads-anxiety already has the audience; a private TBR they will open in bed is the product.
Scout is $1,500/month for the list that comes out of this brief. You approve every creator and every rate. No demo. No download guarantee.
