What BookTok reading trackers creators charge
I do not have a rate card for BookTok reading trackers and I will not invent one. What I have is a filter and a deal shape.
The filter: roughly 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink. PR BookTokers quote publisher rates.
The deal shape: pay $X for N posts with a Minimum View Guarantee of Y. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Balance those so you hit your CPM. Creator compensation is extra on every JumpTrend plan. Scout is $1,500. Outreach is $2,500. Dealmaker is $5,000. Those numbers are for matching, contacting, and paper. Talent is a separate invoice you approve.
Why email is where the money-sink happens
I prefer email. The contact is usually in a small TBR bio, not a publisher kit. Don’t start the deal over email. Ask for the phone number. If they won’t, move on. Talking deal over email is how you get the first number. On a call I can explain a floor of views. Over email you just get “$700 a post.”
Goodreads-anxiety already has the audience; a private TBR they will open in bed is the product.
What not to pay for
A 20-book stack with no tracker. Do not ask for a 20-book haul. Ask them to DNF a book in the app in peace. Skip the 500k BookToker whose whole grid is publisher PR.
The tag is publisher-PR talent who will not demo a tracker.
What I actually measure
Unique App Store codes, not a BookTok unboxing. App Store installs with a unique custom code. No download guarantee. No demo.
If they think the offer is too low, keep the same CPM and just up the numbers. Increasing your CPM should almost never be an option if it makes the product unprofitable. Move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.
