Calendar apps vs a hashtag list
A hashtag list for calendar apps is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would download this on a fresh account.
People tag #calendarapp when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.
The person: US English, 26-38, already bounced off Fantastical’s price and Google Calendar they keep despite hating it, watches ‘I paid for a calendar and still miss dentist appointments’ and time-blocking-collapse videos Sunday night. They watch time-blocking collapse, Fantastical-price rants, ‘I still use Google’, Sunday-night reschedule panic. Example: someone showing a rainbow time-block week that was abandoned by Wednesday. The same Sunday-night collapse face two weeks in a row.
How I actually use a tag, then ignore it
Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the CEO-of-one time-blocking creator whose calendar is a product screenshot for a course, because that is who buys the tag.
Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
Like a CEO-of-one video and you will leave the dentist-appointment people. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.
When a hashtag is enough
If you are learning that missed dentist, Sunday panic, not maker-vs-manager Twitter is next to time-blocking collapse, Fantastical-price rants, ‘I still use Google’, Sunday-night reschedule panic, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.
The tag is productivity coaches selling time-blocking PDFs.
