What changelog tools creators charge
I do not have a rate card for changelog tools and I will not invent one. What I have is a filter and a deal shape.
The filter: roughly 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink. Launch coaches quote playbook prices.
The deal shape: pay $X for N posts with a Minimum View Guarantee of Y. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Balance those so you hit your CPM. Creator compensation is extra on every JumpTrend plan. Scout is $1,500. Outreach is $2,500. Dealmaker is $5,000. Those numbers are for matching, contacting, and paper. Talent is a separate invoice you approve.
Why email is where the money-sink happens
I prefer email. The contact is usually in a tiny SaaS footer. Don’t start the deal over email. Ask for the phone number. If they won’t, move on. Talking deal over email is how you get the first number. On a call I can explain a floor of views. Over email you just get “$700 a post.”
Silent-ship rants already have the audience; a changelog email people open is the product.
What not to pay for
A PH badge with no changelog subscribers. Do not ask them to fake a launch. Ask them to send one changelog to real users. Skip the launch-playbook guru selling Product Hunt templates.
The tag is launch coaches; they want a PH playbook affiliate.
What I actually measure
Unique signup links, not a PH rank screenshot. Signups to a live changelog product, unique link. No download guarantee. No demo.
If they think the offer is too low, keep the same CPM and just up the numbers. Increasing your CPM should almost never be an option if it makes the product unprofitable. Move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.
