What climbing log apps creators charge
I do not have a rate card for climbing log apps and I will not invent one. What I have is a filter and a deal shape.
The filter: roughly 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink. Brand-trip climbers quote outdoor-apparel rates for a utility post.
The deal shape: pay $X for N posts with a Minimum View Guarantee of Y. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Balance those so you hit your CPM. Creator compensation is extra on every JumpTrend plan. Scout is $1,500. Outreach is $2,500. Dealmaker is $5,000. Those numbers are for matching, contacting, and paper. Talent is a separate invoice you approve.
Why email is where the money-sink happens
I prefer email. The contact is usually in the bio next to a training plan Gumroad, or a gym’s staff page. Don’t start the deal over email. Ask for the phone number. If they won’t, move on. Talking deal over email is how you get the first number. On a call I can explain a floor of views. Over email you just get “$700 a post.”
Send videos already have the audience; the log is the thing they reach for in the parking lot when the pump dies.
What not to pay for
A send clip with 400k views and no mention of logging. Do not ask for a V10 montage if the app is a log. Ask them to log a session on camera. Skip the 90k outdoor-lifestyle creator who only posts sunrise ridgelines and never a gym.
The climbing tag on a marketplace is outdoor apparel and chalk bags, not a utility.
What I actually measure
Unique App Store codes, not a send clip with your logo in the corner and no tap. App Store installs with a unique custom code. No download guarantee. No demo.
If they think the offer is too low, keep the same CPM and just up the numbers. Increasing your CPM should almost never be an option if it makes the product unprofitable. Move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.
