What cycling computer apps creators charge

Creator-powered user acquisition

I do not have a rate card for cycling computer apps and I will not invent one. What I have is a filter and a deal shape.

The filter: roughly 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink. Kit riders quote apparel rates for a handlebar shot.

The deal shape: pay $X for N posts with a Minimum View Guarantee of Y. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Balance those so you hit your CPM. Creator compensation is extra on every JumpTrend plan. Scout is $1,500. Outreach is $2,500. Dealmaker is $5,000. Those numbers are for matching, contacting, and paper. Talent is a separate invoice you approve.

Why email is where the money-sink happens

I prefer email. The contact is usually in a bio next to a TrainingPeaks coaching link; say this is a computer-app post. Don’t start the deal over email. Ask for the phone number. If they won’t, move on. Talking deal over email is how you get the first number. On a call I can explain a floor of views. Over email you just get “$700 a post.”

Garage mechanicals and commute rants already have the audience; a readable phone computer is the thing they want on the next wet morning.

What not to pay for

A 4K descent with no computer on the bars. Do not ask for a climb PR. Ask them to follow a turn-by-turn in sun glare. Skip the WorldTour-kit replica rider whose whole grid is watts and who will not talk to a commuter.

The tag is kit and bike unboxings; they want a gifting crate, not an app.

What I actually measure

Unique App Store codes, not a sunny group-ride clip with a logo on a bottle. App Store installs with a unique custom code. No download guarantee. No demo.

If they think the offer is too low, keep the same CPM and just up the numbers. Increasing your CPM should almost never be an option if it makes the product unprofitable. Move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.
