How to write a document scanner app creator brief

Creator-powered user acquisition

A document scanner app creator brief is not a media-plan age band. It is a session: a person, a problem, a pattern of watch-time. I write it before I open a fresh account.

The sentence I actually scroll as: US English, 27-44, already bounced off CamScanner watermarks and a photos-album of crooked receipts, watches ‘I need this PDF in five minutes’ and landlord-document panic videos at a kitchen table.

Problem in their mouth: The free scan put a logo on the form I have to email in an hour.

Already tried: CamScanner until the watermark, the iOS Notes scan they forget exists, and a photos album called ‘scans’ that is 400 screenshots.

Watch: watermark rage, landlord-document panic, ‘the free scan put a logo on my tax form’, receipt-album shame.

Reject: the productivity guru scanning a fake ‘morning routine’ notebook for a sponsor.

Adjacent: tax-time panic, landlord PDFs, not aesthetic stationery.

What to put on the page you send a creator

That later page is not the avatar brief. The avatar brief is for the phone. The creator page is: one mechanic, one CTA, one forbid list.

Mechanic: a scan-to-PDF that is not 17 upsells, or a receipt grab that files itself. A live listing whose first screenshot is a clean PDF, not a dashboard of OCR upsells.

CTA: Scan the form, show a clean PDF, send it. No watermark.

Forbid: Do not ask them to scan a fake morning journal. Ask them to scan a real form and email it. No medical claims. No fake “not sponsored” energy when you paid them.

A working scan they can email from the kitchen table. If they never open the product, the video will be a read-through of your website.

What to ignore

Follower counts, “micro vs macro,” competitor creator lists, and anything that starts with #scannerapp. Those belong in the outreach spreadsheet, after you have names from a feed.

Also ignore “make it go viral.” An avatar brief cannot promise that. It can only promise match.

Example video to have in your head while you write: someone emailing a tax form with a giant watermark across the SSN area.

Document-panic videos already have the audience; a clean PDF in five minutes is the only demo that matters.

Scout is $1,500/month for the list that comes out of this brief. You approve every creator and every rate. No demo. No download guarantee.
