Fantasy sports apps vs a hashtag list
A hashtag list for fantasy sports apps is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would download this on a fresh account.
People tag #fantasyfootball when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.
The person: US English, 23-38, already bounced off ESPN’s clunky waiver flow and a Discord league that still uses screenshots, watches ‘my commissioner is asleep on waivers’ and draft-board-panic videos on a Tuesday night. They watch commissioner rants, waiver-wire panic, ‘ESPN still looks like 2014’, draft-board chaos. Example: someone missing a waiver because ESPN hid the button under three menus. The same Tuesday-night commish face two weeks in a row.
How I actually use a tag, then ignore it
Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the DFS sharp selling picks whose content is indistinguishable from gambling ads, because that is who buys the tag.
Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
One like on a locks account and the phone will leave commissioner content. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.
When a hashtag is enough
If you are learning that commissioner pain, Tuesday waivers, not sportsbook locks is next to commissioner rants, waiver-wire panic, ‘ESPN still looks like 2014’, draft-board chaos, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.
The tag is DFS and sportsbook affiliates; you cannot use those even if they would post.
