First customer feedback widgets campaign checklist
A first customer feedback widgets campaign at founder scale. Numbered so you can stop lying to yourself about which step you skipped.
- Confirm a working widget they can paste on a real page tonight actually closes. Creators cannot fix packaging.
- Write the avatar in a sentence: US English indie SaaS, 26-38, already bounced off Typeform they are embarrassed to send and a Canny they never triaged, watches ‘nobody fills in my Typeform’ and ‘Canny is a graveyard of votes’ videos after a churn email.
- Write the problem in their mouth: I have 80 votes and I still do not know what to build on Monday.
- Write what they already quit: a 20-question Typeform, Canny they never triaged, and a support@ inbox that is unreadable.
- Write what they watch: Typeform-too-long, Canny-graveyard, ‘the only feedback is Twitter dunks’, churn-email panic.
- Write the reject: the product-led-growth thread-lord selling a $799 research course.
- Write adjacent so the phone does not smear: churn emails, graveyard boards, not enterprise survey suites.
- Put that sentence into the brief
- Scroll as them on a fresh Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube account. Example to look for: someone opening Canny to 80 votes and closing it because nothing is ranked. Signal: the same Canny-graveyard face two changelog weeks.
- Keep a 50k average-view floor. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
- Skip #buildinpublic as a roster method.
- Email. The contact is usually in a tiny SaaS site contact, often a personal gmail in the footer. Name a real video. Ask for the phone number.
- If they won’t give a number, move on. PLG coaches quote course prices.
- On the call, Minimum View Guarantee. Example: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Talent extra.
- Send the contract while the yes is still warm. Scout $1,500 / Outreach $2,500 / Dealmaker $5,000.
- Paste, ask one question, see an answer.
- Tell them what to film: paste the widget, ask one question, show the first answer. Do not ask them to fake a roadmap. Ask them to paste the widget and read one answer.
- Give each creator their own code. Unique signup links, not a fake ‘we listened’ changelog.
- Do not run a launch day on the same morning if you wanted isolation.
- Two follow-ups, then stop. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.
Doing the scroll by hand is kind of soul-crushing. Like a Reforge-brained video and you will leave the churn-email indie. No demo. No download guarantee. You approve every creator and every rate.
Graveyard-board rants already have the audience; a three-question widget is the thing they can ship this week.
