How to write a freelance invoicing tool creator brief
A freelance invoicing tool creator brief is not a media-plan age band. It is a session: a person, a problem, a pattern of watch-time. I write it before I open a fresh account.
The sentence I actually scroll as: US English freelancer, 26-40, already bounced off Wave and a Google Doc invoice they duplicate, watches ‘this client is 45 days out’ and ‘I hate looking like a corporation’ videos on a Thursday when they should be sending the reminder.
Problem in their mouth: I am 45 days out and the reminder still looks like I am going to sue them.
Already tried: Wave they outgrew or got lost in, a Google Doc they duplicate, and PayPal.me they know looks unprofessional.
Watch: late-client rants, ‘QuickBooks is for my uncle’s shop’, Doc-invoice shame, 1099 panic.
Reject: the accounting-TikTok CPA selling a $1k bookkeeping package.
Adjacent: 45-days-out, 1099 panic, not SMB payroll.

What to put on the page you send a creator
That later page is not the avatar brief. The avatar brief is for the phone. The creator page is: one mechanic, one CTA, one forbid list.
Mechanic: an invoice that does not look like QuickBooks, or a reminder that is not a 40-page accounting suite. A working invoice they can send to a real client today.
CTA: Make the invoice, send the reminder, show the email. Stop.
Forbid: Do not ask them to film a luxury flex. Ask them to send a reminder. No medical claims. No fake “not sponsored” energy when you paid them.
A sendable invoice, no bookkeeping onboarding. If they never open the product, the video will be a read-through of your website.
What to ignore
Follower counts, “micro vs macro,” competitor creator lists, and anything that starts with #freelancer. Those belong in the outreach spreadsheet, after you have names from a feed.
Also ignore “make it go viral.” An avatar brief cannot promise that. It can only promise match.
Example video to have in your head while you write: someone hovering over send on a reminder and then closing the laptop.
Late-client rants already have the audience; a reminder they will actually send is the product.
Scout is $1,500/month for the list that comes out of this brief. You approve every creator and every rate. No demo. No download guarantee.
