How to write a freelance time tracker creator brief

Creator-powered user acquisition

A freelance time tracker creator brief is not a media-plan age band. It is a session: a person, a problem, a pattern of watch-time. I write it before I open a fresh account.

The sentence I actually scroll as: US English freelancer, 25-39, already bounced off Toggl reports they cannot send and a Notes app of hours, watches ‘I reconstructed my week from Slack’ and ‘Toggl reports look like a spreadsheet threw up’ videos on Sunday invoicing night.

Problem in their mouth: Sunday I am guessing Tuesday from Slack because I forgot the timer.

Already tried: Toggl they cannot report from, a Notes list of hours, and a spreadsheet they fill in from memory on Sunday.

Watch: Slack-reconstruction, Toggl-report hate, ‘I forgot to start the timer’, Sunday invoicing.

Reject: the productivity YouTuber selling a $199 time-blocking cohort.

Adjacent: Sunday invoices, forgotten timers, not enterprise billable-hour OS.

What to put on the page you send a creator

That later page is not the avatar brief. The avatar brief is for the phone. The creator page is: one mechanic, one CTA, one forbid list.

Mechanic: a timer that is not Toggl’s report maze, or a week view a client will accept. A working timer plus a client-ready week they can send tonight.

CTA: Start the timer, do 20 minutes, export the week. Send it to yourself as the client.

Forbid: Do not ask them to time-block a fake CEO week. Ask them to reconstruct one real Tuesday, then show the timer. No medical claims. No fake “not sponsored” energy when you paid them.

Start a timer, stop it, export a week. If they never open the product, the video will be a read-through of your website.

What to ignore

Follower counts, “micro vs macro,” competitor creator lists, and anything that starts with #freelancer. Those belong in the outreach spreadsheet, after you have names from a feed.

Also ignore “make it go viral.” An avatar brief cannot promise that. It can only promise match.

Example video to have in your head while you write: someone scrolling Slack to guess Tuesday’s hours.

Slack-reconstruction rants already have the audience; a week view a client will accept is the product.

Scout is $1,500/month for the list that comes out of this brief. You approve every creator and every rate. No demo. No download guarantee.
