First gambling-quit apps campaign checklist
A first gambling-quit apps campaign at founder scale. Numbered so you can stop lying to yourself about which step you skipped.
- Confirm a live listing that is a blocker or a day-counter, not a recovery clinic actually closes. Creators cannot fix packaging.
- Write the avatar in a sentence: US English, 26-42, already bounced off site-blocking browser extensions and a paper calendar of X marks, watches ‘I lost rent on DraftKings’ and sports-bet-shame videos after a game ends.
- Write the problem in their mouth: I self-excluded on desktop and then bet on my phone in the parking lot.
- Write what they already quit: browser blockers they sidestepped on the phone, a paper calendar of X marks, and self-exclusion they reversed in a weekend.
- Write what they watch: sports-bet shame, ‘I self-excluded and they still emailed me’, deposit-limit rants.
- Write the reject: the sports-picks creator who is still posting locks tonight.
- Write adjacent so the phone does not smear: debt shame, sports-watch recap, not crypto or casino glam.
- Put that sentence into the brief
- Scroll as them on a fresh Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube account. Example to look for: someone showing the push notification from a sportsbook ten minutes after they self-excluded. Signal: the same self-exclusion rant showing up after two different games.
- Keep a 50k average-view floor. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
- Skip #problemgambling as a roster method.
- Email. The contact is usually in a Linktree that also sells a workbook; say you are buying a post about the blocker, not the workbook. Name a real video. Ask for the phone number.
- If they won’t give a number, move on. Recovery coaches quote course prices for a single story post.
- On the call, Minimum View Guarantee. Example: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Talent extra.
- Send the contract while the yes is still warm. Scout $1,500 / Outreach $2,500 / Dealmaker $5,000.
- The live App Store link, no waitlist, no coach upsell in the first screen.
- Tell them what to film: install the blocker, turn it on, show the Screen Time permission. That is the video. Do not ask them to film a rock-bottom story or a medical claim. No ‘this cured me.’.
- Give each creator their own code. Unique App Store codes, not comments that say ‘stay strong’.
- Do not run a launch day on the same morning if you wanted isolation.
- Two follow-ups, then stop. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.
Doing the scroll by hand is kind of soul-crushing. One wrong like on a picks account and the phone will spend a week serving parlays. No demo. No download guarantee. You approve every creator and every rate.
Quit content already has the audience; you need the people who talk about the slip, not the people selling picks.
