Gambling-quit apps vs a hashtag list

Creator-powered user acquisition

A hashtag list for gambling-quit apps is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would download this on a fresh account.

People tag #problemgambling when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.

The person: US English, 26-42, already bounced off site-blocking browser extensions and a paper calendar of X marks, watches ‘I lost rent on DraftKings’ and sports-bet-shame videos after a game ends. They watch sports-bet shame, ‘I self-excluded and they still emailed me’, deposit-limit rants. Example: someone showing the push notification from a sportsbook ten minutes after they self-excluded. The same self-exclusion rant showing up after two different games.

How I actually use a tag, then ignore it

Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the sports-picks creator who is still posting locks tonight, because that is who buys the tag.

Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.

One wrong like on a picks account and the phone will spend a week serving parlays. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.

When a hashtag is enough

If you are learning that debt shame, sports-watch recap, not crypto or casino glam is next to sports-bet shame, ‘I self-excluded and they still emailed me’, deposit-limit rants, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.

Marketplaces mix this with sports betting talent who will not post a quit app.
