Guitar practice apps vs a hashtag list

Creator-powered user acquisition

A hashtag list for guitar practice apps is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would download this on a fresh account.

People tag #guitartok when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.

The person: US English, 19-34, already bounced off Yousician streaks and a Justin Guitar tab they never finished, watches ‘I own three guitars and play none’ and messy-apartment-riff videos after 10pm. They watch unplayed-guitar shame, ‘Yousician felt like homework’, one-riff loops, cheap-amp bedroom clips. Example: someone picking up a dusty Strat, opening Yousician, and putting it back after the streak lecture. The same unplayed-guitar face two weeknights in a row.

How I actually use a tag, then ignore it

Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the shred YouTuber selling a $299 technique course who will not talk to a cowboy-chord adult, because that is who buys the tag.

Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.

Like one sweep-picking video and you will leave the dusty-Strat adult. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.

When a hashtag is enough

If you are learning that bedroom 10pm, unplayed-guitar guilt, not Berklee flex is next to unplayed-guitar shame, ‘Yousician felt like homework’, one-riff loops, cheap-amp bedroom clips, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.

The tag is course-sellers and pedal unboxings; they want a kit, not your practice loop.
