Home scent brands vs a hashtag list

Creator-powered user acquisition

A hashtag list for home scent brands is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as your client’s customer on a fresh account.

People tag #candles when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.

The person: the client’s customer is US English, 24-38, already bounced off a grocery vanilla they are bored of and a candle that sooted the wall, watches ‘this candle sooted my wall’ and Sunday-reset-scent videos while they clean. They watch soot-on-wall, Sunday-reset, ‘grocery vanilla is sad’, throw-vs-looks. Example: someone pointing at a black crescent on the wall above a pretty jar. The same Sunday-reset face two weeks.

How I actually use a tag, then ignore it

Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the 1M lifestyle creator whose house is a set, because that is who buys the tag.

Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.

Like a mansion tour and you will leave the Sunday-reset apartment. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.

When a hashtag is enough

If you are learning that Sunday reset, soot rage, not mansion tours is next to soot-on-wall, Sunday-reset, ‘grocery vanilla is sad’, throw-vs-looks, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.

The tag is lifestyle sets and PR unboxings of 8 candles.
