Insulated bottles vs a hashtag list
A hashtag list for insulated bottles is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would buy this SKU on a fresh account.
People tag #stanley when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.
The person: US English, 20-34, already bounced off a bottle that sweated a backpack and a Stanley they feel late to, watches ‘this bottle sweated my laptop’ and backpack-leak videos after a commute. They watch backpack-sweat, laptop-leak, ‘I am late to the Stanley’, lid-fail. Example: someone pulling a wet laptop sleeve out of a backpack. The same wet-sleeve face two commutes.
How I actually use a tag, then ignore it
Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the 2M Stanley-haul who will not talk about a laptop, because that is who buys the tag.
Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
Like a color-drop and you will leave the laptop-sleeve people. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.
When a hashtag is enough
If you are learning that laptop leak, commute backpack, not color-drop flex is next to backpack-sweat, laptop-leak, ‘I am late to the Stanley’, lid-fail, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.
The tag is color-drop hauls.
