Interior paint brands vs a hashtag list
A hashtag list for interior paint brands is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as your client’s customer on a fresh account.
People tag #paint when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.
The person: the client’s customer is US English, 28-44, already bounced off a big-box color that looked different at night and a designer they cannot afford, watches ‘this gray is sad at 6pm’ and sample-board videos in a half-painted room. They watch sad-gray-at-6pm, sample-boards, ‘the big-box chip lied’, half-painted-room panic. Example: someone showing the chip in daylight and the wall at 6pm. The same 6pm-gray face two evenings.
How I actually use a tag, then ignore it
Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the 1M interior-design creator whose house is a full gut, because that is who buys the tag.
Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
Like a full gut and you will leave the half-painted apartment. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.
When a hashtag is enough
If you are learning that half-painted rooms, 6pm gray, not mansion makeovers is next to sad-gray-at-6pm, sample-boards, ‘the big-box chip lied’, half-painted-room panic, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.
The tag is mansion-makeover talent.
