Link-in-bio tools vs a hashtag list

Creator-powered user acquisition

A hashtag list for link-in-bio tools is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would pay for this tool on a fresh account.

People tag #linkinbio when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.

The person: US English small creator, 21-34, already bounced off Linktree’s branded splash and a Carrd they cannot update from a phone, watches ‘Linktree looks like an ad now’ and ‘I have to update this from a laptop’ videos after a post pops. They watch Linktree-branding hate, ‘I cannot update from my phone’, bio-link-as-ad, tiny-shop grids. Example: someone opening their own bio and seeing three upgrade banners before the actual link. The same bio-banner-hate face after two popped posts.

How I actually use a tag, then ignore it

Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the 400k ‘creator tools’ roundup whose last 20 videos are affiliate Linktrees, because that is who buys the tag.

Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.

Like a 400k creator-tools roundup and you will never see a 8k shop grid. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.

When a hashtag is enough

If you are learning that tiny shops, phone editing, not enterprise link management is next to Linktree-branding hate, ‘I cannot update from my phone’, bio-link-as-ad, tiny-shop grids, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.

The tag is the other bio tools’ affiliate army.
