What meal kit brands creators charge
I do not have a rate card for meal kit brands and I will not invent one. What I have is a filter and a deal shape.
The filter: roughly 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink. Meal-kit affiliates quote the last brand’s rate card.
The deal shape: pay $X for N posts with a Minimum View Guarantee of Y. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Balance those so you hit your CPM. Creator compensation is extra on every JumpTrend plan. Scout is $1,500. Outreach is $2,500. Dealmaker is $5,000. Those numbers are for matching, contacting, and paper. Talent is a separate invoice you approve.
Why email is where the money-sink happens
I prefer email. The contact is usually in a bio that is not a 6-kit Linktree. Don’t start the deal over email. Ask for the phone number. If they won’t, move on. Talking deal over email is how you get the first number. On a call I can explain a floor of views. Over email you just get “$700 a post.”
Cancel-rants already have the audience; a 3-meal box that actually gets eaten is the demo.
What not to pay for
A studio cook with no delivery bag. Do not ask them to cook a 90-minute recipe. Ask them to cook Tuesday’s bag after work. Skip the homesteading creator who will mock a kit on principle.
The tag is every meal-kit affiliate who already posted HelloFresh last month.
What I actually measure
Unique codes, not a recipe clip with no box. Codes on a live box checkout. No download guarantee. No demo.
If they think the offer is too low, keep the same CPM and just up the numbers. Increasing your CPM should almost never be an option if it makes the product unprofitable. Move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.
