Mushroom coffee vs a hashtag list
A hashtag list for mushroom coffee is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would buy this SKU on a fresh account.
People tag #mushroomcoffee when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.
The person: US English, 24-38, already bounced off a grocery bag and a mushroom mix that tasted like dirt, watches ‘this mushroom coffee tastes like dirt’ and 2pm-crash videos at a desk, no medical claims. They watch dirt-taste, 2pm-crash, ‘I miss coffee’, tin-under-the-sink. Example: someone sipping, making a face, and pouring it out. The same dirt-taste face two mornings.
How I actually use a tag, then ignore it
Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the biohacker whose mushroom coffee is one of 20 supplements, because that is who buys the tag.
Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
Like a 20-supplement stack and you will leave the dirt-taste people. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.
When a hashtag is enough
If you are learning that dirt taste, 2pm desk, not nootropic stacks is next to dirt-taste, 2pm-crash, ‘I miss coffee’, tin-under-the-sink, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.
The tag is biohacker stacks.
