What pet food brands creators charge
I do not have a rate card for pet food brands and I will not invent one. What I have is a filter and a deal shape.
The filter: roughly 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink. Costume-pet accounts quote entertainment rates.
The deal shape: pay $X for N posts with a Minimum View Guarantee of Y. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Balance those so you hit your CPM. Creator compensation is extra on every JumpTrend plan. Scout is $1,500. Outreach is $2,500. Dealmaker is $5,000. Those numbers are for matching, contacting, and paper. Talent is a separate invoice you approve.
Why email is where the money-sink happens
I prefer email. The contact is usually in a small dog-parent bio, not a costume brand kit. Don’t start the deal over email. Ask for the phone number. If they won’t, move on. Talking deal over email is how you get the first number. On a call I can explain a floor of views. Over email you just get “$700 a post.”
Upset-stomach recaps already have the audience; a live recipe with a real ship date is the demo. No medical claims.
What not to pay for
A talking-dog skit with a bag cameo. Do not ask them to claim the food healed anything. Ask them to show the bag and the ship date. Skip the 2M pet account that is a costume page.
The catalog is costume-pet talent and treat hauls.
What I actually measure
Unique codes, not a costume skit. Codes on a live bag or a real subscription. No download guarantee. No demo.
If they think the offer is too low, keep the same CPM and just up the numbers. Increasing your CPM should almost never be an option if it makes the product unprofitable. Move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.
