First proposal tools campaign checklist

Creator-powered user acquisition

A first proposal tools campaign at founder scale. Numbered so you can stop lying to yourself about which step you skipped.

  1. Confirm a working one-page proposal they can e-sign tonight actually closes. Creators cannot fix packaging.
  2. Write the avatar in a sentence: US English freelancer, 27-41, already bounced off a Google Doc they export to PDF and PandaDoc’s price, watches ‘the proposal is still a Doc’ and ‘they asked for a PDF and I lost two hours’ videos the night before a bid is due.
  3. Write the problem in their mouth: The pricing table broke in the PDF and I found out after I sent it.
  4. Write what they already quit: a Google Doc exported to PDF, PandaDoc until the bill, and a Notion page the client could not comment on.
  5. Write what they watch: Doc-to-PDF pain, PandaDoc-price, ‘they ghosted after the 20-pager’, last-night bid panic.
  6. Write the reject: the agency-YouTuber selling a $2k proposal template pack.
  7. Write adjacent so the phone does not smear: last-night bids, ghosted 20-pagers, not enterprise CPQ.
  8. Put that sentence into the brief
  9. Scroll as them on a fresh Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube account. Example to look for: someone exporting a Doc at 11pm and finding the pricing table broke. Signal: the same 11pm-export face two bid nights.
  10. Keep a 50k average-view floor. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
  11. Skip #freelancer as a roster method.
  12. Email. The contact is usually in a freelance studio bio. Name a real video. Ask for the phone number.
  13. If they won’t give a number, move on. Agency coaches quote template-pack prices.
  14. On the call, Minimum View Guarantee. Example: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Talent extra.
  15. Send the contract while the yes is still warm. Scout $1,500 / Outreach $2,500 / Dealmaker $5,000.
  16. Write, send, no CPQ onboarding.
  17. Tell them what to film: write the one-pager, send it, show the signed page. Do not ask them to flash a $40k deal as your ROAS. Ask them to send a one-pager and show it signed.
  18. Give each creator their own code. Unique signup links, not a signed-deal flex with the number blacked out.
  19. Do not run a launch day on the same morning if you wanted isolation.
  20. Two follow-ups, then stop. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.

Doing the scroll by hand is kind of soul-crushing. Like a 50-person agency vlog and you will leave the 11pm freelancer. No demo. No download guarantee. You approve every creator and every rate.

Broken-export rants already have the audience; a one-page e-sign they can send from a phone is the product.
