First rhythm games campaign checklist

Creator-powered user acquisition

A first rhythm games campaign at founder scale. Numbered so you can stop lying to yourself about which step you skipped.

  1. Confirm a live listing whose first screenshot is a thumb chart, not an arcade actually closes. Creators cannot fix packaging.
  2. Write the avatar in a sentence: US English, 16-28, already bounced off a rhythm game that hid songs behind IAP and a chart that needed four fingers they do not have on a commute, watches ‘the song is $4’ and bus-chart videos with one earbud in.
  3. Write the problem in their mouth: I downloaded a rhythm game and the song I came for was $4, and the chart wanted four fingers on a moving bus.
  4. Write what they already quit: a rhythm game that hid songs behind IAP, a chart that needed four fingers, and a web rhythm they outgrew.
  5. Write what they watch: song-is-IAP, bus-charts, four-finger-gate, ‘I just wanted one song’.
  6. Write the reject: the 400k rhythm YouTuber who only posts arcade cabinets.
  7. Write adjacent so the phone does not smear: bus charts, IAP songs, not arcade flex.
  8. Put that sentence into the brief
  9. Scroll as them on a fresh Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube account. Example to look for: someone unlocking a song screen that is a $4 wall. Signal: the same $4-song face two bus rides.
  10. Keep a 50k average-view floor. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
  11. Skip #rhythmgame as a roster method.
  12. Email. The contact is usually in a small mobile-rhythm bio. Name a real video. Ask for the phone number.
  13. If they won’t give a number, move on. Arcade YouTubers quote launch rates.
  14. On the call, Minimum View Guarantee. Example: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Talent extra.
  15. Send the contract while the yes is still warm. Scout $1,500 / Outreach $2,500 / Dealmaker $5,000.
  16. A first song they can play on a bus.
  17. Tell them what to film: install, play the first song with thumbs on a bus, drop the code. Do not ask for an arcade recap. Ask them to play the first song with thumbs.
  18. Give each creator their own code. Unique App Store codes, not an arcade view.
  19. Do not run a launch day on the same morning if you wanted isolation.
  20. Two follow-ups, then stop. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.

Doing the scroll by hand is kind of soul-crushing. Like an arcade cabinet and you will leave the bus-thumb people. No demo. No download guarantee. You approve every creator and every rate.

IAP-song rants already have the audience; a first song they can play with thumbs on a bus is the demo.
