First sourdough kit subscriptions campaign checklist

Creator-powered user acquisition

A first sourdough kit subscriptions campaign at founder scale. Numbered so you can stop lying to yourself about which step you skipped.

  1. Confirm the client’s live subscription with a real ship window actually closes. Creators cannot fix packaging.
  2. Write the avatar in a sentence: the client’s customer is US English, 26-42, already bounced off a dead starter in the fridge and a YouTube bake that wasted a Saturday, watches ‘I killed my starter’ and Saturday-bake-fail videos at the kitchen scale.
  3. Write the problem in their mouth: The jar in the fridge is a science experiment I am afraid to open.
  4. Write what they already quit: a starter they killed, a YouTube bake that ate Saturday, and a grocery loaf they felt guilty buying.
  5. Write what they watch: killed-starter, Saturday-bake-fail, ‘the YouTube bake took 11 hours’, fridge-jar shame.
  6. Write the reject: the homestead creator who already has a 20-year starter and will mock a kit.
  7. Write adjacent so the phone does not smear: killed starters, Saturday fails, not homestead flex.
  8. Put that sentence into the brief
  9. Scroll as them on a fresh Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube account. Example to look for: someone pouring a gray starter down the sink. Signal: the same killed-starter face two Saturdays.
  10. Keep a 50k average-view floor. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
  11. Skip #sourdough as a roster method.
  12. Email. The contact is usually in a small apartment-bake bio. Name a real video. Ask for the phone number.
  13. If they won’t give a number, move on. Homestead bakers quote cookbook rates.
  14. On the call, Minimum View Guarantee. Example: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Talent extra.
  15. Send the contract while the yes is still warm. Scout $1,500 / Outreach $2,500 / Dealmaker $5,000.
  16. The kit contents on the scale, not a stock loaf.
  17. Tell them what to film: mix the kit, show the ship window, drop the code. Do not ask for an 11-hour documentary. Ask them to mix this week’s kit.
  18. Give each creator their own code. Unique codes, not a crumb-shot with no kit.
  19. Do not run a launch day on the same morning if you wanted isolation.
  20. Two follow-ups, then stop. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.

Doing the scroll by hand is kind of soul-crushing. Like a 20-year-starter homestead and you will leave the killed-jar people. No demo. No download guarantee. You approve every creator and every rate.

Killed-starter rants already have the audience; a kit that gets them one loaf this week is the demo.
