Sourdough kit subscriptions vs a hashtag list

Creator-powered user acquisition

A hashtag list for sourdough kit subscriptions is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as your client’s customer on a fresh account.

People tag #sourdough when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.

The person: the client’s customer is US English, 26-42, already bounced off a dead starter in the fridge and a YouTube bake that wasted a Saturday, watches ‘I killed my starter’ and Saturday-bake-fail videos at the kitchen scale. They watch killed-starter, Saturday-bake-fail, ‘the YouTube bake took 11 hours’, fridge-jar shame. Example: someone pouring a gray starter down the sink. The same killed-starter face two Saturdays.

How I actually use a tag, then ignore it

Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the homestead creator who already has a 20-year starter and will mock a kit, because that is who buys the tag.

Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.

Like a 20-year-starter homestead and you will leave the killed-jar people. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.

When a hashtag is enough

If you are learning that killed starters, Saturday fails, not homestead flex is next to killed-starter, Saturday-bake-fail, ‘the YouTube bake took 11 hours’, fridge-jar shame, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.

The tag is homestead bakers and cottage-core sets.
