What status page tools creators charge

I do not have a rate card for status page tools and I will not invent one. What I have is a filter and a deal shape.

The filter: roughly 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink. DevOps influencers quote conference-talk rates.

The deal shape: pay $X for N posts with a Minimum View Guarantee of Y. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Balance those so you hit your CPM. Creator compensation is extra on every JumpTrend plan. Scout is $1,500. Outreach is $2,500. Dealmaker is $5,000. Those numbers are for matching, contacting, and paper. Talent is a separate invoice you approve.

Why email is where the money-sink happens

I prefer email. The contact is usually in a tiny product footer, often a personal email. Don’t start the deal over email. Ask for the phone number. If they won’t, move on. Talking deal over email is how you get the first number. On a call I can explain a floor of views. Over email you just get “$700 a post.”

Outage-tweet recaps already have the audience; a URL they can post from a phone is the product.

What not to pay for

A fake 99.99 badge with no incident flow. Do not ask them to fake an outage for content. Use a past incident or a staging post labeled as a drill. Skip the DevOps influencer whose grid is Kubernetes and who will not talk to a solo founder.

The tag is SRE and Kubernetes; they will not demo a solo status page.

What I actually measure

Unique signup links, not an uptime screenshot. Signups to a live status product, unique link. No download guarantee. No demo.

If they think the offer is too low, keep the same CPM and just up the numbers. Increasing your CPM should almost never be an option if it makes the product unprofitable. Move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.
