Tower defense games vs a hashtag list
A hashtag list for tower defense games is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would actually play the first session on a fresh account.
People tag #towerdefense when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.
The person: US English, 18-34, already bounced off a TD that energy-gated waves and a defense game that was ads between maps, watches ‘I cannot start the next wave’ and late-night-map videos on a couch. They watch energy-gated-waves, ads-between-maps, late-night-maps, ‘I just wanted Bloons on a phone without the wait’. Example: someone beating a map and hitting an energy wall before the next. The same energy-wall face two couch nights.
How I actually use a tag, then ignore it
Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the 350k TD YouTuber who only posts PC mods, because that is who buys the tag.
Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
Like a PC-mod video and you will leave the couch-phone people. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.
When a hashtag is enough
If you are learning that couch maps, energy-gated waves, not PC-mod lectures is next to energy-gated-waves, ads-between-maps, late-night-maps, ‘I just wanted Bloons on a phone without the wait’, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.
The tag is PC-mod YouTubers.
