First waitlist tools campaign checklist

Creator-powered user acquisition

A first waitlist tools campaign at founder scale. Numbered so you can stop lying to yourself about which step you skipped.

  1. Confirm a working waitlist page they can put a real product name on tonight actually closes. Creators cannot fix packaging.
  2. Write the avatar in a sentence: US English pre-launch founder, 24-36, already bounced off a Carrd plus Google Form and a viral-loop waitlist that attracted other founders, watches ‘my waitlist is 800 other founders’ and ‘the Form responses are a mess’ videos the week before they wanted to ship.
  3. Write the problem in their mouth: I have 800 on the list and I think 600 of them ship newsletters, not my app.
  4. Write what they already quit: Carrd plus a Google Form, a viral-loop waitlist of other founders, and a Twitter ‘reply for access’ that went nowhere.
  5. Write what they watch: founder-heavy waitlists, Google-Form mess, ‘viral loop brought me no users’, pre-launch dread.
  6. Write the reject: the launch-Twitter person whose waitlist course is the product.
  7. Write adjacent so the phone does not smear: pre-launch dread, founder-heavy lists, not growth-hack loops.
  8. Put that sentence into the brief
  9. Scroll as them on a fresh Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube account. Example to look for: someone opening 800 waitlist emails and recognizing half as other indie hackers. Signal: the same 800-founders face two pre-launch weeks.
  10. Keep a 50k average-view floor. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
  11. Skip #waitlist as a roster method.
  12. Email. The contact is usually in a Carrd footer or a personal gmail in a tweet. Name a real video. Ask for the phone number.
  13. If they won’t give a number, move on. Launch coaches quote course prices.
  14. On the call, Minimum View Guarantee. Example: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Talent extra.
  15. Send the contract while the yes is still warm. Scout $1,500 / Outreach $2,500 / Dealmaker $5,000.
  16. A page, an email ping, no referral gimmick required.
  17. Tell them what to film: put the page up, join it yourself, show the ping. No loop required. Do not ask them to fake 10k on a waitlist. Ask them to show a ping from a real join.
  18. Give each creator their own code. Unique signup links, not a ‘800 on the waitlist’ flex.
  19. Do not run a launch day on the same morning if you wanted isolation.
  20. Two follow-ups, then stop. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.

Doing the scroll by hand is kind of soul-crushing. Like a viral-loop tutorial and you will leave the Google-Form people. No demo. No download guarantee. You approve every creator and every rate.

Founder-heavy-list rants already have the audience; a plain email-capture that pings you is the boring product that works.
