How to write a weather app creator brief

Creator-powered user acquisition

A weather app creator brief is not a media-plan age band. It is a session: a person, a problem, a pattern of watch-time. I write it before I open a fresh account.

The sentence I actually scroll as: US English, 25-40, already bounced off a free weather app that became ads and Apple Weather they do not trust for a 5pm storm, watches ‘this app said 10 percent and I got soaked’ and radar-nerd videos before a commute.

Problem in their mouth: It said 10 percent and I arrived at work looking like I swam.

Already tried: a free app that became ads, Apple Weather they argue with, and a local NWS site they cannot read on a phone.

Watch: wrong-forecast rage, radar looping, ‘the free app is ads now’, bike-commute soakings.

Reject: the storm-chaser with a sponsorship from a weather hardware brand in every video.

Adjacent: commute soakings, radar loops, not tornado tourism.

What to put on the page you send a creator

That later page is not the avatar brief. The avatar brief is for the phone. The creator page is: one mechanic, one CTA, one forbid list.

Mechanic: a radar that is not a homepage of widgets, or a rain alert that is not an ad for a 10-day upsell. A live listing whose first screenshot is radar, not a widget store.

CTA: Open radar, show the next 30 minutes, leave the house.

Forbid: Do not ask them to film a disaster. Ask them to check radar before a ride. No medical claims. No fake “not sponsored” energy when you paid them.

A working radar for their city tonight. If they never open the product, the video will be a read-through of your website.

What to ignore

Follower counts, “micro vs macro,” competitor creator lists, and anything that starts with #weatherapp. Those belong in the outreach spreadsheet, after you have names from a feed.

Also ignore “make it go viral.” An avatar brief cannot promise that. It can only promise match.

Example video to have in your head while you write: someone showing 10 percent chance, then a soaked bike commute.

Wrong-forecast rage already has the audience; a radar they can read in five seconds is the product they will actually open.

Scout is $1,500/month for the list that comes out of this brief. You approve every creator and every rate. No demo. No download guarantee.
