What woodworking plan apps creators charge
I do not have a rate card for woodworking plan apps and I will not invent one. What I have is a filter and a deal shape.
The filter: roughly 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink. Shop influencers quote tool-haul rates.
The deal shape: pay $X for N posts with a Minimum View Guarantee of Y. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Balance those so you hit your CPM. Creator compensation is extra on every JumpTrend plan. Scout is $1,500. Outreach is $2,500. Dealmaker is $5,000. Those numbers are for matching, contacting, and paper. Talent is a separate invoice you approve.
Why email is where the money-sink happens
I prefer email. The contact is usually in a small garage-build bio. Don’t start the deal over email. Ask for the phone number. If they won’t, move on. Talking deal over email is how you get the first number. On a call I can explain a floor of views. Over email you just get “$700 a post.”
Missing-cut-list rants already have the audience; a Saturday plan for a circular saw is the product.
What not to pay for
A Festool wall with no plan. Do not ask for a 12-hour shop documentary. Ask them to follow a cut list with a circular saw. Skip the 600k shop-influencer whose garage is a brand-trip Festool wall.
The tag is Festool-wall talent and lumber affiliates.
What I actually measure
Unique App Store codes, not a shop tour. App Store installs with a unique custom code. No download guarantee. No demo.
If they think the offer is too low, keep the same CPM and just up the numbers. Increasing your CPM should almost never be an option if it makes the product unprofitable. Move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.
