Word search games vs a hashtag list
A hashtag list for word search games is a vocabulary tool. It is not a roster. I still scroll as the person who would actually play the first session on a fresh account.
People tag #wordsearch when they want brands to find them. That is a real behavior. It is also why the list looks public. Another shop emailed a version of it last Tuesday.
The person: US English, 30-55, already bounced off a word search that was ads between words and a puzzle that wanted money for hints, watches ‘there is an ad between every word’ and waiting-room-puzzle videos in a clinic lobby. They watch ads-between-words, waiting-room, hint-paywall, ‘I just wanted a puzzle’. Example: someone circling one word and getting a 30-second ad. The same lobby-ad face two waiting rooms.
How I actually use a tag, then ignore it
Hashtag search is cheap and fast. You will learn the words. You will also meet the trivia-app recapper who only posts kids’ learning games, because that is who buys the tag.
Then I switch to the feed. Fresh account. Real phones. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink.
Like a kids’ spelling game and you will leave the clinic lobby. Scout is $1,500/month because some founders will still want the list without becoming a hashtag intern.
When a hashtag is enough
If you are learning that waiting room, ads-between-words, not spelling for kids is next to ads-between-words, waiting-room, hint-paywall, ‘I just wanted a puzzle’, a tag is enough. If you are about to spend talent money, it is not.
The tag is trivia recappers and kids’ learning.
