Launch an influencer campaign for espresso logging apps

How I launch an espresso logging app influencer campaign

I scroll Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube under a fresh account if I’m marketing an espresso logging app. I try to put myself in this person’s shoes: US English, 26-42, already bounced off a Home-Barista spreadsheet and a notes app of grams, watches 'I cannot remember yesterday's grind' and 6am-shot videos at a machine. Linger, save, like, and comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink.

You really need to do this for hundreds of creators a day, because the market is not efficient. Some dumb startup is paying thousands for hundreds of views. I scroll as the person who would download this on real phones. Scout is $1,500/month. We find creators. Outreach is $2,500 if I should send the emails. Dealmaker is $5,000 if I should negotiate and paper the deal. Creator fees extra. No demo. No download guarantee. I wrote the long version at How I find influencers.

  • No demo
  • Real phones
  • You approve every creator and every rate

Where people actually look

I still start on a fresh account for espresso logging apps.

  • Creator marketplacesA catalog of people who signed up to get deals. The tag is $4k machine unboxers and kettle affiliates. Fine if you need a body. Not who is watching forgotten-grind, 6am-shots, sour-shot-rage, 'the spreadsheet is in the other room' this week.
  • Influencer databasesWho exists, with filters and emails. Useful later. It still does not tell you who TikTok is pushing to someone watching forgotten-grind, 6am-shots, sour-shot-rage, 'the spreadsheet is in the other room' this week.
  • A UA or influencer agencyA retainer, a deck, a timeline. Makes sense if you have budget for a team. Overkill if you already have an espresso logging app live and you need a first campaign this month.
  • Doing it yourselfThis is how I used to do it. Fresh account, then email, then a call. It works. Like a $4k unboxing and you will leave the 6am sour-shot people. Doing it by hand is kind of soul-crushing, which is why I automated the scrolling. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.

How I actually launch

Write who it is for. Then scroll. Then email. Then call.

01

Write who it is for

Not a demographic. Yesterday's grind is in a spreadsheet in the other room and this shot is already sour. They already tried a Home-Barista spreadsheet, a notes app of grams, and a paper card on the hopper they spilled on. Skip the 500k espresso-influencer whose machine is a $4k brand trip. Adjacent is 6am sour shots, forgotten grind, not $4k machine flex. Steal the brief if you want.

02

Scroll as them

Fresh account. Real phones. Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average. Example: someone pulling a sour shot because yesterday's grind was in a spreadsheet they did not open. Signal: the same 6am-sour face two mornings.

03

Email, then call

I prefer email. The contact is usually in a small home-machine bio. Just send a short note. Name a real video. Ask for the phone number. Don’t start the deal over email. Espresso influencers quote machine-haul rates. If they won’t give a number, move on.

04

Minimum View Guarantee

Pay $X for N posts with a floor of Y views. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Then send the contract while it’s still fresh. Log a shot with one wet hand at the machine. Pull, log grind with one hand, drop the code.

Why most first espresso logging apps campaigns stall

The market is not efficient. Some dumb startup is paying thousands for hundreds of views.

01

You pick one expensive creator.

Espresso influencers quote machine-haul rates. You needed a lot of other names so you could move on. Forgotten-grind rants already have the audience; a one-hand log at the machine is the product.

02

The list came from a hashtag or a database.

People tag #espresso when they want brands to find them. A database tells you who exists. Your customer lives in a feed you never opened. A $4k machine with no log.

03

You talk money over email.

Many times I have read something unprofitable like “$700 a post” from a creator that gets 50k views. On a call I can explain a Minimum View Guarantee. Over email you just get the first number. Do not ask for a machine unboxing. Ask them to log a shot with one wet hand.

What you actually buy

Scout, Outreach, or Dealmaker. Same campaign, more of it done for you.

Every plan includes the scrolling. Pay more and I do more of the emailing and the paperwork. Creator pay is extra. No demo. No download guarantee. A live listing whose first screenshot is grind, time, and a note, not a social feed.

Questions

The things I get asked first.

Can I just search #espresso?

You can learn vocabulary that way. People tag what they want brands to find. I still scroll as the person who would download this on a fresh account and take whoever keeps showing up. The method essay is How we find creators by scrolling a real TikTok avatar.

Do you guarantee views or App Store installs with a unique custom code?

No. Anyone who does is lying or running paid. I do the scrolling and, on Outreach and Dealmaker, the contacting. You still approve every creator and every rate. Talent is extra. No demo. No download guarantee.

What if they quote $700 a post?

Espresso influencers quote machine-haul rates. I want roughly 50k average views or the economics usually break. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink. On a call I can explain a Minimum View Guarantee. Example: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Over email you just get the first number. If they will not give a number, move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.

Is a marketplace wrong for espresso logging apps?

No. It is a different job. The tag is $4k machine unboxers and kettle affiliates. I read the session the person who would download this actually gets served. Product page for the general job: campaigns.
