Launch an influencer campaign for insulated bottles

How I launch an insulated bottle influencer campaign

I scroll Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube under a fresh account if I’m marketing an insulated bottle. I try to put myself in this person’s shoes: US English, 20-34, already bounced off a bottle that sweated a backpack and a Stanley they feel late to, watches 'this bottle sweated my laptop' and backpack-leak videos after a commute. Linger, save, like, and comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink.

You really need to do this for hundreds of creators a day, because the market is not efficient. Some dumb startup is paying thousands for hundreds of views. I scroll as the person who would buy this SKU on real phones. Scout is $1,500/month. We find creators. Outreach is $2,500 if I should send the emails. Dealmaker is $5,000 if I should negotiate and paper the deal. Creator fees extra. No demo. No download guarantee. I wrote the long version at How I find influencers.

  • No demo
  • Real phones
  • You approve every creator and every rate

Where people actually look

I still start on a fresh account for insulated bottles.

  • Creator marketplacesA catalog of people who signed up to get deals. The tag is color-drop hauls. Fine if you need a body. Not who is watching backpack-sweat, laptop-leak, 'I am late to the Stanley', lid-fail this week.
  • Influencer databasesWho exists, with filters and emails. Useful later. It still does not tell you who TikTok is pushing to someone watching backpack-sweat, laptop-leak, 'I am late to the Stanley', lid-fail this week.
  • A UA or influencer agencyA retainer, a deck, a timeline. Makes sense if you have budget for a team. Overkill if you already have an insulated bottle live and you need a first campaign this month.
  • Doing it yourselfThis is how I used to do it. Fresh account, then email, then a call. It works. Like a color-drop and you will leave the laptop-sleeve people. Doing it by hand is kind of soul-crushing, which is why I automated the scrolling. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.

How I actually launch

Write who it is for. Then scroll. Then email. Then call.

01

Write who it is for

Not a demographic. It kept ice and it still ruined a sleeve. They already tried a bottle that sweated a backpack, a Stanley they feel late to, and a cheap lid that leaked. Skip the 2M Stanley-haul who will not talk about a laptop. Adjacent is laptop leak, commute backpack, not color-drop flex. Steal the brief if you want.

02

Scroll as them

Fresh account. Real phones. Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average. Example: someone pulling a wet laptop sleeve out of a backpack. Signal: the same wet-sleeve face two commutes.

03

Email, then call

I prefer email. The contact is usually in a small commute-vlog bio. Just send a short note. Name a real video. Ask for the phone number. Don’t start the deal over email. Stanley-haul accounts quote drop rates. If they won’t give a number, move on.

04

Minimum View Guarantee

Pay $X for N posts with a floor of Y views. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Then send the contract while it’s still fresh. The bottle in a real backpack next to a laptop. Fill it, put it next to a laptop in a bag, commute, drop the code.

Why most first insulated bottles campaigns stall

The market is not efficient. Some dumb startup is paying thousands for hundreds of views.

01

You pick one expensive creator.

Stanley-haul accounts quote drop rates. You needed a lot of other names so you could move on. Laptop-leak rants already have the audience; a live lid that does not sweat a commute is the demo.

02

The list came from a hashtag or a database.

People tag #stanley when they want brands to find them. A database tells you who exists. Your customer lives in a feed you never opened. A rainbow of bottles that never leave a desk.

03

You talk money over email.

Many times I have read something unprofitable like “$700 a post” from a creator that gets 50k views. On a call I can explain a Minimum View Guarantee. Over email you just get the first number. Do not ask for a color collection. Ask them to commute with a laptop.

What you actually buy

Scout, Outreach, or Dealmaker. Same campaign, more of it done for you.

Every plan includes the scrolling. Pay more and I do more of the emailing and the paperwork. Creator pay is extra. No demo. No download guarantee. A live bottle and lid in stock.

Questions

The things I get asked first.

Can I just search #stanley?

You can learn vocabulary that way. People tag what they want brands to find. I still scroll as the person who would buy this SKU on a fresh account and take whoever keeps showing up. The method essay is How we find creators by scrolling a real TikTok avatar.

Do you guarantee views or Shop or site codes on a live color/lid?

No. Anyone who does is lying or running paid. I do the scrolling and, on Outreach and Dealmaker, the contacting. You still approve every creator and every rate. Talent is extra. No demo. No download guarantee.

What if they quote $700 a post?

Stanley-haul accounts quote drop rates. I want roughly 50k average views or the economics usually break. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink. On a call I can explain a Minimum View Guarantee. Example: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Over email you just get the first number. If they will not give a number, move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.

Is a marketplace wrong for insulated bottles?

No. It is a different job. The tag is color-drop hauls. I read the session the person who would buy this SKU actually gets served. Product page for the general job: campaigns.
