Launch an influencer campaign for NCLEX prep apps

How I launch a NCLEX prep app influencer campaign

I scroll Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube under a fresh account if I’m marketing a NCLEX prep app. I try to put myself in this person’s shoes: US English nursing student, 21-30, already bounced off UWorld they cannot afford this month and a YouTube NCLEX they half-sleep through, watches 'UWorld is a second rent' and post-shift-question videos in scrubs in a car. Linger, save, like, and comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average views. Below that they quote $700 a post for 1k views. That’s a money sink.

You really need to do this for hundreds of creators a day, because the market is not efficient. Some dumb startup is paying thousands for hundreds of views. I scroll as the person who would download this on real phones. Scout is $1,500/month. We find creators. Outreach is $2,500 if I should send the emails. Dealmaker is $5,000 if I should negotiate and paper the deal. Creator fees extra. No demo. No download guarantee. I wrote the long version at How I find influencers.

  • No demo
  • Real phones
  • You approve every creator and every rate

Where people actually look

I still start on a fresh account for NCLEX prep apps.

  • Creator marketplacesA catalog of people who signed up to get deals. The tag is $400 course-sellers. Fine if you need a body. Not who is watching UWorld-is-rent, post-shift-questions, 'I fall asleep in the YouTube', car-scrubs this week.
  • Influencer databasesWho exists, with filters and emails. Useful later. It still does not tell you who TikTok is pushing to someone watching UWorld-is-rent, post-shift-questions, 'I fall asleep in the YouTube', car-scrubs this week.
  • A UA or influencer agencyA retainer, a deck, a timeline. Makes sense if you have budget for a team. Overkill if you already have a NCLEX prep app live and you need a first campaign this month.
  • Doing it yourselfThis is how I used to do it. Fresh account, then email, then a call. It works. Like a guru course and you will leave the parking-lot scrubs. Doing it by hand is kind of soul-crushing, which is why I automated the scrolling. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.

How I actually launch

Write who it is for. Then scroll. Then email. Then call.

01

Write who it is for

Not a demographic. I just worked 12 hours and the Qbank wants another rent payment before I can do 10 questions. They already tried UWorld they cannot afford this month, YouTube NCLEX they sleep through, and a paper Qbank they cannot carry. Skip the 400k NCLEX-guru selling a $400 course in every video. Adjacent is post-shift car, rent-priced Qbanks, not guru courses. Steal the brief if you want.

02

Scroll as them

Fresh account. Real phones. Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Linger, save, like, comment as if I were them. Once the algorithm is trained I take whoever keeps showing up. Ideally over 50k average. Example: someone in scrubs in a parking lot closing a $400 paywall. Signal: the same parking-lot-scrubs face two post-shifts.

03

Email, then call

I prefer email. The contact is usually in a small nursing-student bio, not a course checkout. Just send a short note. Name a real video. Ask for the phone number. Don’t start the deal over email. NCLEX gurus quote course prices. If they won’t give a number, move on.

04

Minimum View Guarantee

Pay $X for N posts with a floor of Y views. An example that is easy to hold: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Then send the contract while it’s still fresh. 10 questions they can finish in a car after a shift. Do 10 questions in the car, read one rationale, drop the code. No outcomes.

Why most first NCLEX prep apps campaigns stall

The market is not efficient. Some dumb startup is paying thousands for hundreds of views.

01

You pick one expensive creator.

NCLEX gurus quote course prices. You needed a lot of other names so you could move on. UWorld-is-rent rants already have the audience; a question they can finish after a shift is the product. No pass-rate claims.

02

The list came from a hashtag or a database.

People tag #nclex when they want brands to find them. A database tells you who exists. Your customer lives in a feed you never opened. A pass-rate banner you cannot stand behind.

03

You talk money over email.

Many times I have read something unprofitable like “$700 a post” from a creator that gets 50k views. On a call I can explain a Minimum View Guarantee. Over email you just get the first number. Do not ask them to claim they passed because of you. Ask them to do 10 questions after a shift.

What you actually buy

Scout, Outreach, or Dealmaker. Same campaign, more of it done for you.

Every plan includes the scrolling. Pay more and I do more of the emailing and the paperwork. Creator pay is extra. No demo. No download guarantee. A live listing whose first screenshot is a question plus a rationale, not a pass-rate banner.

Questions

The things I get asked first.

Can I just search #nclex?

You can learn vocabulary that way. People tag what they want brands to find. I still scroll as the person who would download this on a fresh account and take whoever keeps showing up. The method essay is How we find creators by scrolling a real TikTok avatar.

Do you guarantee views or App Store installs with a unique custom code?

No. Anyone who does is lying or running paid. I do the scrolling and, on Outreach and Dealmaker, the contacting. You still approve every creator and every rate. Talent is extra. No demo. No download guarantee.

What if they quote $700 a post?

NCLEX gurus quote course prices. I want roughly 50k average views or the economics usually break. Below that, $700 a post for 1k views is a money sink. On a call I can explain a Minimum View Guarantee. Example: $2000 / 4 posts / 1M views. Over email you just get the first number. If they will not give a number, move on. If you do this right, ie at scale, you will have many other creators to choose from.

Is a marketplace wrong for NCLEX prep apps?

No. It is a different job. The tag is $400 course-sellers. I read the session the person who would download this actually gets served. Product page for the general job: campaigns.
